Protesters demand consequences for EPD Officers after accusations of inappropriate texts

EUREKA, CA (KIEM) – A group of protesters gathered in front of the Humboldt County Courthouse to protest against the two EPD officers following the accusations of inappropriate text messages.

Protesters demanded that Eureka Police Chief Watson fire the officers responsible.

According to a press release, the two officers are now on administrative leave pending an investigation.

Emily Mossman Smiley, a member of the Party for Socialism and Liberation group said, “These comments are not appropriate for a person who has so much power and is suppose to be serving our community.”

An independent, third-party investigator is set to investigate the two EPD officers.
