HUMBODLT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)-An internet crime investigation led trinity county sheriff’s office personnel to Humboldt County this morning.

The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office with the help of the Humboldt County Sheriff Office served a search warrant on electronic devices believed to be inside a travel trailer located at Redwood Acres in Eureka, according to Sergeant Josh Ford with The Trinity County Sheriff’s Office.

According to Ford, the investigation led by the TCSO, and assisted by the HCSO resulted in the arrest of a Trinity County man, now identified as 36-year-old Steven May R. Rebel.

Ford says the investigation had been going on for a number of weeks.

Investigators were trying to identify a subject who may have been enticing children over the internet, which ultimately brought the TCSO to Humboldt County.

“Must have been the quietest raid in history, cause neither I, nor my neighbors that I talked to, heard a thing,” he said. “I did see some police activity down there about a week ago, but I don’t if it’s related to this or not.”
