Man arrested for stealing mail

ARCATA, Ca. (KIEM) -A man is in the Humboldt County Jail after being arrested for stealing people’s mail in the Arcata area.

38 year old, John Wayne Merrell was taken into custody after Humboldt County Sheriff Deputies responded to a report of a suspicious person at the 8200 Block of West End Road.

Merrell had more than 30 pieces of stolen mail in his possession when he was arrested.

The stolen mail is now being held at the McKinleyville substation of the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
