New environmental group formed in Humboldt County

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif. (KIEM)- Several local environmentalist have come together to form a new organization to advocate for the adoption of environmentally friendly policies in Humboldt County.

The name of the new organization is the Redwood Coalition for Climate and Environmental Responsibility, also known as RCCER, which was formed about a month ago.

The purpose of this organization is to make sure that local officials and government agencies address key environmental issues.

There are many organizations in the county that already help with these issues, but because they are non-profits they can’t do any work that is considered political, and that’s were RCCER comes in.

“RCCER is not affiliated with these organizations, said Hayley Conners-Keith, a member RCCER. “So, we can bring up issues to our local elected officials and government agencies.”
