The Eureka School District is dealing with a teacher shortage

As another school year approaches, school districts all over the country are facing teacher shortages.

The Eureka school district is facing the same issue. The additional funds given to schools because of the pandemic allowed them to open up more positions throughout the district. But, a lot of other schools districts are doing the same thing, which is looking for qualified teachers. That makes the situation very competitive, and when that happens, it’s all about the money.

“We are actually very happy that we can offer signing bonuses for those hard to fill positions Such as math teachers and special education teachers, and that can be up to 6 thousand dollars. Another thing that we have recently done is we just settled and have a tentative agreement with our classified employee’s association. We have just completely restructured the salary for our classified employees,” said Superintendent Frank Van Vleck.

Superintendent Frank Van Vleck wants to encourage anyone interested to apply online at EDJOIN.ORG.
