Beauty Services are Safely Regulated During Covid Surge in Humboldt County

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM)- As Covid cases continue to increase in Humboldt County, people are starting to avoid going to salons because they think services like haircuts and hair removal require them to ignore Covid-19 safety rules.

Michelle Yvonne Beauty in Eureka says the health guidelines set by county boards in the beauty world have always been strict pre-covid.

“The beauty industry has always had strict protocols. So the only addition is having hand sanitizers available, having masks available and wearing masks. Everything was already labeled, disinfected and sterilized prior to covid,” said Michelle, owner of Michelle Yvonne Beauty.

Clients wear masks for most services like hair removal and haircuts. During facials, beauty workers double up on masks and face shields.

Michelle Yvonne wants everyone to know it is still safe to get your hair cut or get your eyebrows done.

“I was already disinfecting, cleaning and wearing gloves. A lot of the people in the beauty world were as well and that’s something I want people to recognize. The industry has always been really clean. As a consumer, you really need to go into those facilities and make the judgement for yourself,” said Michelle Yvonne.

The increase in Covid-19 and the presence of the Delta Variant has caused salons to limit how many people are allowed in at once. However they are all currently operating regular hours and offering the same services.
