The Inaugural Six River Montessori Fall Festival

ARCATA, Calif. (KIEM)- Six River Montessori held its first fall festival today from 11 A.M. to 4 P.M. in its effort to hopefully bring more attention to that part of the community.

The first Six Rivers Montessori Fall Festival has been in the works for a few weeks. They invited the community for a day of family fun with some live music, activities for kids, and vendors.

“This is a fundraiser for our school, but more importantly, this is a community event. We wanted to reach out to our local community here in the valley west area because Arcata is an under-served area. And most events are centered in downtown Arcata,” said Ev Drakoulias, Office Administrator, at Six Rivers Montessori School.

The school collaborated with the city of Arcata and the playhouse by having the event at the school’s parking lot and extending it to valley west park just next to the school.

“As a school, we feel responsible for having and bringing the community together…Our school is about trying to bring the community together,” said Michele Gilbert, Teacher at Six Rivers Montessori School.

The school is hoping events like these give that area in the community more attention.
