Cannabis Tax Relief

The Humboldt County Supervisors are set to consider tax relief for cannabis growers at today’s board meeting. The board’s potential action comes after local cannabis producers staged a demonstration outside the county courthouse earlier this month. At that rally, activists pleaded with county officials to forgo collecting the upcoming cultivation tax due in March and restructure it. They contend the tax rate doesn’t reflect current market conditions. The protesters said the wholesale price of cannabis has plummeted recently due to over-production with legalization.
