Tribal Opioid Lawsuit Settlement

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif.(KIEM) Native American Tribes across the nation, including the Yurok and Wiyot here in Humboldt County, have reached a huge settlement with drug companies over the opioid epidemic. The 590-million-dollar deal involves drug makers Johnson and Johnson along with three drug distributors. The payout to the tribes will take place over several years. The settlement ends a federal lawsuit in which the tribes said the opioid epidemic had massively impacted the Native American population.
