Humboldt County will soon be updating covid dashboard 3 times a week

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Calif.(KIEM)- Humboldt County Health Officials say they’re about to change how they report covid-19 data to the public.

Instead of reporting daily case counts, deaths, and hospitalization information, the department of public health says it will change to publicly updating the data just three times a week.

Due to at-home tests being more accessible to all, officials say it doesn’t allow them to report accurate daily covid case counts.

As a result, health leaders tell us they are currently working on a new version of the county’s online covid dashboard.

They say reporting the data less frequently will provide a more accurate representation of covid infections in the community.

“And so we will at some point soon be moving to do news releases three times a week versus daily to help reflect this change that we’re seeing in the data and providing still those updates to the community,” said Sofia Pereira Humboldt County Public Health Director.
