Mike’s Drive Up Closing

EUREKA, Calif. (KIEM) A landmark burger joint in Eureka announces its closure after nearly 80 years. Mike’s Drive Up on Broadway opened in 1943 as a family business. Current owners James and Anne Carpenter took over onĀ April 1, 2014. Prior to that, James’s father ran it for 52 years. Mike’s Drive Up is known for their friendly service and deliciousĀ food; including garlic fries, chili cheese dogs and of course, hamburgers. The owners say it isĀ combination of a lot of several reasons on why they are closing. Some of those reasons include the cost of building upgrades, pandemic stress, and personal health concerns. As well as maintenance issues with their aging building have taken a toll and led them to the decision to close at the end of March. Customers are packing the place on its final days of operation. and say they will miss it.Ā
