Humboldt heros honored First posthumus veteran

EUREKA, Calf. (KIEM)- An Arcata navy seal becomes the first veteran to be posthumously honored as a Humboldt hero.

Kevin Ebbert was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2012.

He was recognized as this month’s Humboldt hero at today’s noon-hour ceremony.

Ebbert’s parents wanted to give back to his memory, so they donated their son’s vehicle to a  local cal poly Humboldt vet.

“It was the last thing that Kevin would have wanted, and when we’ve heard about Project Jumpstart, we knew for, you know, instantly that that’s what we wanted to do. We wanted to give, you know, pay it forward,” said Charlie Jordan, Kevin’s Mother.
