Ross Rowley, Redwood News:

How often do we get a chance to view the finest sports cars in the world. The finest of the finest. Pat Wille, secretary treasurer of the Sports Car Club of America, the Concours de Elegance chapter is here with us. Welcome, Pat.

Pat Wille:

Thank you.

Ross Rowley, Redwood News:

The Ferndale Concours on Main is an event for true car buffs. Can you tell us about it?

Pat Wille:

Well, it’s a car show, but it goes well beyond that.  It’s different than most car shows or cars that are modified, are attracted to those shows. With the Concours D’elegance, you’re looking for bone stock as it’s had on the showroom floor. So it’s pretty selective. We turn a turn away quite a few registrants or attempted registrants, you know, for the for the show. But we just say your car just is too far removed from stock.

Ross Rowley, Redwood News:

Tell us how many cars do you see this year, and will we see them on Main Street, Ferndale? And what’s the event like?

Pat Wille:

Well, it starts at about 7 a.m. when folks start driving their cars and be placed on Main Street to be parked. And it goes on until 4:00, and is open to the public. It’s kind of always open to the public because it’s Main Street.  You know, we’re not going to put cyclone fences all the way around it, but the vehicles come in and they fill up. We have SCCA Sports Car, Club of America has judges and field crew, so they plan the whole thing out.

Ross Rowley, Redwood News:

You’re wearing some very interesting attire for Humboldt County. Can you tell us why you’re wearing such an outfit?

Pat Willie:

Well, this is the outfit, the uniform essentially for the sports Car Club of America judges. It’s a white shirt, red tie, blue blazer, khaki pants and straw or silk hat is what happens to be silk. Just really quick again.

Ross Rowley, Redwood News:

Tell us about Sunday and what people can expect when they go to see the show.

Pat Willie:

Well, they’ll see many, many beautiful vehicles from all different eras. So, it’s just kind of a gathering of folks who love cars and the owners love to talk about their cars.

Ross Rowley, Redwood News:
