Joined by city officials, community members and family, the Victorian Village honored Guy Fieri as the mayor of Flavortown today.

“I think April 5 as long as I can make it will be one of those things [to] do something special,” said Guy Fieri, the Honorary Mayor of Flavortown. “Maybe it’ll be about raising awareness, maybe we raise money. It’ll be something.”

Guy Fieri Day will now occur annually on April 5 in the city of Ferndale. Guy said, that each year it’d be a day not just to celebrate but to give back to the Ferndale community.

About a few weeks ago, Guy Fieri made an appearance at the Drew Barrymore Show and there he was surprised with a proclamation declaring Guy Fieri Day in Ferndale. This episode aired today in honor of his recognition.

“Drew and her team, they’re the ones who got the ball rolling and so awesome that Ferndale delivered,” Guy said.

Guy feels that being able to come back and support programs, causes and more in his hometown is the biggest reward and highlight of his career.

“This today was not expected, very appreciated and pretty overwhelming,” said the Honorary Mayor of Ferndale.

Local firefighters, police, educators, friends, and family were able to share their gratitude to Guy Fieri during public comment at his honorary ceremony.

“I vaguely remember him selling me a stale pretzel, telling me it was still good–all kidding aside, Guy speaking for the Ferndale community, I’d like to let you know how much your presence concerns, and contributions to our community is appreciated,” said Randall Cady, Mayor of Ferndale. “So from your hometown, I would like to make this proclamation declaring April 5, 2024, Guy Fieri, Honorary Mayor of Ferndale Day.”

Guy Fieri is best known for his reality cooking show TV appearances on The Food Network, Diners Drive-ins and Dives, and the Guy’s Grocery Games.

“Did I ever think in my lifetime that I would be receiving the recognition of honorary mayor? Absolutely not,” Guy Fieri said. “And matter of fact, I don’t think anybody else in this town would have thought that would have been the case.”
