The Humboldt County Botanical Garden is hosting its yearly fund raising sale this Saturday May 4th from 9am-3pm, and it’s open to the public.

There’s a wide variety of plants available, no matter what your gardening skill level may be.

“Currently, we have everything from riparian gardens, rose gardens, heather gardens, we have ornamental perennial gardens, pollinator gardens, california native plants, temperate woodlands, again there’s something for everyone, if you’re a botanist interested in native plants we’ve got one of the best in the state and perhaps if you’re a home gardener our ornamental terraces are fantastic”, says Benjamin Crain, manager of the Humboldt Botanical Gardens.

While you explore the gardens you can also enjoy more than four miles of trails.

“Just from a conservation and ecology standpoint, we really like to emphasize the local native California plant species. And again we have a diversity of them that I think is unmatched”, he said.

Members of the Humboldt botanical garden are able to gain early access to the sale as well as year round activities such as botanical seminars, horticultural workshops and even a family friendly music series during the summer.

“I think the overall diversity we offer is really exceptional, and what we’ve tried to focus on, particularly this year, is being very representative of the garden itself. So if you’ve ever come to visit the garden and have seen something you thought was very spectacular, we’ve tried to focus on those types of plants. So if you’ve had an interest in something, now is your chance to get some of those things”, says Crain.
