Redwood Outlaw Kart racing season started at Redwood Acres on Saturday, June 15 and runs until October.

We asked Outlaw Karts some questions about this year’s season.

Redwood News:

What divisions are they?

Outlaw Karts:
There are six divisions with ages five and up.
Yeah, there’s beginner box stop, ages 5 to 8. box stop, which is the level up, which is 7 to 12.
There’s 250 there, ages 12 to 18. Open 500, which is a little bigger than the two. 50 is ages 15 and up. We have cage clubs that are ages 12 and up
and flat cars that are 15 and up.
So all ages are welcome to race above five.

Redwood News:
So it’s from five years old to adults?

Outlaw Karts:
Yes, it’s a lot. Makes it a lot of fun. Yes, it is a lot of fun to watch.

Redwood News:
Are families is a big part of coming out to watch the races?

Outlaw Karts:
Yes, families are a big part of the come out. It creates fun and lasting memories and it’s really fun with friends and family.
A big part of us doing this is for the youth and community.
There aren’t many extracurriculars in our area and we’re providing the score the community can participate in.
That isn’t the typical traditional sport.

Redwood News:
How many out-of-town racers come in to Eureka over the summer?

Outlaw Karts:
Yes, we do have out-of-town racers that number ranges, so it’s hard to say.
we’re excited to find out and have them race with us again this summer.

Redwood News:
Where are they coming from? From Sacramento? Where?

Outlaw Karts:
Anywhere from Santa Rosa, Sacramento up to Medford. Roseburg. Up in southern Oregon to Bay area.

Redwood News:
Would you invite race fans to come out and see what cart race is about?
Maybe their families might get into it.

Outlaw Karts:
Yeah. We encourage anyone who is interested in car racing to come out to the races. Check it out. Talk to us on how to get started. This could be an affordable and beginner friendly way option for new racers. There’s lots of information online about our Lockhart, and we’d be happy to guide you in your racing endeavor.

Redwood News:
The first race of the season is Saturday, June 15th. What time is the race? How much does it cost and how do you get to the track?

Outlaw Karts:
We’ll have a guide and map on our Facebook page that it can be a little tricky. We’re at Redwood Acres Fairgrounds.
The cost of admission is $20 for a pit pass and ages zero and five or free.
