
ARCATA- A 6-5 record wasn’t good enough for Humboldt State football a season ago. They want to bring back the GNAC title to the North Coast and earn a trip to the playoffs.
The Jacks held their first practice Tuesday afternoon on campus at the College Creek Field. Their high-powered offense is led by quarterback Robert Webber and running back Ja’Quan Gardner. Both are seniors.
There’s also experience upfront including All-American lineman Alex Cappa.
One area HSU needs to improve on is the defense. Last year, they allowed 33 points a game. The green and gold brought in veteran coach Barry Sacks who has experience at the Division 1 level to lead the defense.
The Jacks begin the regular season September 9, on the road at defending champion Azusa Pacific.
