FERNDALE – The 121st Humboldt County Fair kicked off Wednesday in Ferndale.

All the favorites are back this year including the carnival, livestock shows, and horse races of course.

Plus the fair features plenty of entertainment for the next two weeks from thrills like the Chicago Boyz Acrobatic Team and Cortes Family Aerial Show to live musical performances.

Billed as the longest continuously running fair in California, General Manager Richard Conway said it has endured challenges like extreme weather and the loss of state funding and it’s all thanks to local support. Conway said, “The old funding was $200,000 give or take and now we get a small piece of that and the community has been very generous and very supportive to help us offset that loss of revenue. So when they come out to the fair whether it’s through sponsorship dollars or donations we’re very fortunate to live in the area we do.”
