Budget adjustments approved for upgrade of Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office dispatch, report system

EUREKA, CA. – The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office is requesting an upgrade for their dispatch and report management system.

Tuesday, county supervisors backed up that request, with approval of a supplemental budget adjustment of about $414,000, in order to purchase a one-year lease and computer servers for the new system.

The current system was last updated in 2009, but the Sheriff’s Office says this new technology, a product of Sun Ridge Systems, Inc., will make a difference by allowing for patrol vehicles to have mobile computer software, collaborative data sharing with other law enforcement agencies in Humboldt, and provide access for the public to crime statistics.

Total cost of the purchasing, leasing and maintenance of the new system will near one million dollars.
