ARCATA- Back in December, the fundraising efforts by the community helped save Humboldt State football.

Head coach Rob Smith who led the Lumberjacks to two GNAC titles was also expected to return for his eleventh season with the green and gold. But that changed when Smith made the decision to resign.

The veteran coach held a press conference Tuesday morning at the Baywood Golf and Country Club to address why he made the decision to leave the sidelines.

Later in the day, News Channel 3’s Manny Machado was joined in studio by HSU interim athletic director Duncan Robins. Robins responded to what Smith said at the press conference and what’s next for the football program
