Wheetley resigns as Fortuna City Manager

FORTUNA- The mayor of Fortuna is commenting on the resignation of City Manager Mark Wheetley.

He submitted his resignation Tuesday after being sentenced to jail time for a second DUI.

On Wednesday, Mayor Sue Long thanked Wheetley for his contributions and wished him the best in the future.

Wheetley said he was proud of the city’s accomplishments during his tenure.

Public Works Director Merritt Perry will be interim city manager until the position is filled.
