Potential wind energy farm near Scotia

Residents of Humboldt County may be seeing a new wind energy farm built near Scotia, but first they’ll seek public input in meetings this week.

The San Diego based company, Humboldt Wind LLC, would build the energy farm to produce enough energy to power around 33,000 homes. The farm would consist of up to 60, 590 foot tall wind turbines, and would generate 135 megawatts of power. The project would take approximately 18 months with around 300 workers.

Public meetings on the topic will be held at the Fortuna Veterans Hall tomorrow from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. and Thursday in Eureka at the Humboldt Bay Aquatic center from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.
