Airbag recall in California

Local Chrysler, Dodge, and Ram dealers are urging drivers, regardless of their vehicle’s manufacturer, to make sure they don’t have recalled airbags before traveling this holiday weekend.

There are currently 1.7 million vehicles in California with an open Takata recall, 6,000 of those being in Eureka.
Defective Takata airbags are at risk of rupturing causing serious death or even death to drivers and passengers. They say the risk peaks in hot climates.

Many local dealers are open extended hours over the weekend, and have all parts in stock. All drivers are urged to visit checktoprotect.org to make sure they don’t have a recalled airbag in their vehicle. You can find your vehicles 17 digit identification number on the driver’s dashboard.
