Cupcake shop helps raise donations for Camp Fire evacuees

Arcata, Ca., (KIEM) In the City of Arcata, a “sweet treats” shop is trying their best to assist in the wildfires, locally.

Mia Bella Cupcakes located on H. Street is using sweets to raise donations for victims of the Camp Fire, the most destructive wildfire in state history.

The shop will be collecting gift cards, along with a large donation of cupcakes and delivering them to Lost Coast Roast on Wednesday. Lost Coast Roast will then bring the donations and Thanksgiving dinner to Chico to help over 120 fire evacuees and first responders on Thursday.

Mia Bella Cupcakes said once Lost Coast Roast came to them with the idea of helping, there was no turning back.

“I think it’s really important for us to help victims of campfire it was a really tragic event that occurred,” said Dulce Diaz of Mia Bella. “And yes, that’s what we do as a community, the people of Humboldt really like to help other people and we feel as though this is an event that can definitely use our help.”

Anyone who drops off a gift card at Mia Bella’s between 11:00 am & 6:00 pm on Tuesday or Wednesday will receive a free cupcake. Gift cards can also be purchased at Costco, Target, Safeway and CVS.
