EUREKA, CA. (KIEM) – This morning nearly thirty people camping on private property in Eureka were asked to wake up and help clean up the area.

The City of Eureka Code Enforcement Division, Eureka Police Department, Public Works and employees of California Fish and Wildlife executed criminal search warrants on the private property. They say the site poses a threat to public health and safety including illegally built structures, electrical, and fire hazards. As well as a large amount of garbage in a sensitive habitat. The property has also been a site for illegal drug trafficking and other criminal activity.

The mall entrance at Bayshore Way will be closed to traffic during this operation that may be extended to early next week.
