Humboldt State men’s basketball is heading to Chico state on Saturday to face the Wildcats. The jacks haven’t won at Acker gym since 2015. As sports director Manny Machado reports, Amari Green’s short resume at HSU is proof Steve Kinder has assembled roster able to end the Jacks losing streak.

Amari Green is a freshman but you wouldn’t know it by the way he handles himself on the court. He has not one but two game winning shots this season and both on the home court. One against rival Chico and this past Saturday against nationally ranked UC San Diego.

Coming off a tough loss to San Marcos earlier in the week, green received a late night text from Ashton Pomrehn. The assistant coach told green to stay positive and be ready for the next game and oh was he ever.

Green has been around basketball most of his life but it wasn’t until at the college level.  At Humboldt state where he helped deliver the two game winning baskets. but green knows, he wouldn’t be in that position without his team.

And as the regular season reaches the final weeks, the Lumberjacks are doing their best to reach the playoffs. And game by game, Green gains more confidence.
