Two tons of trash on illegal campsites removed by multiple agencies

ARCATA, CA. (KIEM) – Several illegal campsites off of Wymore road in Arcata, have been cleaned up and removed. Humboldt County Roads with the assistance of Eureka’s New Directions and Walund Construction spent several hours, on Thursday, cleaning the area with heavy machinery.

The group filled up a dump bed with at least two tons of trash and debris. Before the operation, several notices were served to alert the people a clean-up was taking place, but not even a day later, our cameras caught another campsite located at the same area of the clean-up.

The agencies are aware of the new campsite, but the only confirmed clean-up will take place near the Bayshore mall on Tuesday.
