New College of the Redwoods facilities in Newsom’s proposed State Budget

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – College of the Redwoods may see some needed construction on its Eureka campus pretty soon.

In Governor Gavin Newsom’s proposed State Budget, it includes funding for a new Creative Arts, Physical Education, and Gymnasium Complex.

These plans are in addition to the Utility Infrastructure Replacement project. That will replace much of the underground utilities throughout the Eureka campus.

The state funded UIR project itself will cost 28 million dollars. If Newsom’s budget is approved, construction is expected to start in the spring.

The Creative Arts building is expected to be completed in 2021 and the Gym in 2024.
