FORTUNA, Ca. (KIEM) – After being inspired by the efforts of the local youth in Fortuna, one hospital is donating to the city’s proposed skate park.
Redwood Memorial Hospital matched the amount raised by Fortuna high school. The money will help to support the new proposed skate area in Newburg Park.
Back in 2016, Kiya Kitchen and Faith Tsarnas were killed while skateboarding on Eel River Drive.
The proposed skate park honors will remember the lives of the two girls.
The Fortuna City Council and Humboldt Skate Park Collective finalized an agreement that would allow for the skate space. So far, over $10,000 dollars has been raised.
