Pine Hill Elementary Students Get Artistic Painting Outside

EUREKA, CA (KIEM) – Pine Hill Elementary School students show off their artistic side at The Plein Air Paint-Out.

Local artist and retired teacher Paul Rickard was at Pine Hill to teach youngsters from kindergarten through third-grade how to paint outside.

Students drew on clipboards using watercolor paper and pencils. Easels were also set up with watercolor paints allowing for students to take turns, and make one big work of art.

Rickard wants to show students how to be creative through art. He believes it is important to incorporate art and education together.
