CUTTEN, Ca (KIEM)- Earlier in the week, we told you about how a good Samaritan alerted two residents that their home was on fire. Now, we get to meet the woman who helped the two people and their cat to safety.

Holly Bateman along with her husband Alex and children were returning home from dinner when they noticed a home on fire. Flames were coming from the attic of the home located across from Cutten School. Her husband stopped their SUV to call 911. Holly quickly got out the vehicle and rushed to the front door of the home.

Not only did she alert the man and woman at the home but also helped track down their cat. While they were awake, they didn’t know their home was on fire and were thankful for Holley’s efforts

Holly told Redwood News the Humboldt Bay firefighters did a great job bringing the fire under control quickly and their efforts helped save many items in the house.

The fire started in the attic and caused $150,000 in damage. The cause remains under investigation.
