Jeep Destroyed by Fire near South Jetty Road

SOUTH JETTY, CA (KIEM) – A Jeep is destroyed by fire near the entrance of the South Jetty parking lot.

The Loleta Fire Department responded around 5:15 Sunday evening. When crews arrived on scene, the Jeep was up in flames. Smoke was visible from King Salmon.

It took firefighters around eight minutes to put out the blaze. According to Loleta Fire, no one was inside of the Jeep.

“I happened to be the first on scene. My primary concern was to make sure the vehicle is unoccupied. Once we ascertained that, it was easy to ask for the proper tools to extinguish it,” said Andy Helzer, Loleta Fire Training Officer.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
