New Waterfront Drive Project Construction to Kick Off Soon

Eureka, Ca. (KIEM) — The waterfront between H and I Streets will soon look a little different thanks to the Waterfront Drive project. The city has been working towards this project for a few years now.

The project aims to close the gap in the roadway between Humboldt Towing and Caito Fisheries. It will feature two travel lanes, bike lanes, a 10 foot sidewalk on the north side of the road, along with trees and benches. The goal is to connect Waterfront Drive in Old Town to the Waterfront Drive near the Adorni Center. City engineer, Jesse Willor, hopes the community will be patient with the city during construction.

There will be a groundbreaking event next Wednesday at 1:30 pm to officially kick off the start of construction.
