Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office Introduces Body Cameras For Correctional Officers

Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — The Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office rolled out new body cameras for each of their correctional officers to wear during their shifts. They introduced the cameras back in March.

The cameras worn by the officers capture everything that happens in the inmate zone. This includes all their day to day actions such as meal times, medication handouts and court movements. Basically, every time there is an interaction between an officer and inmate, the camera is recording. According to a senior correctional deputy, Chelsey Camilli, it’s a great tool for training and keeping everyone involved safe.

Cameras are worn by correction officers for the duration of their shift. They will help ensure the safety and security of the facility
