Sheriff’s Office hires 38 new Deputies and Promotes nine employees

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)– There are some changes at the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office with new deputies and promotions. Within the last six months, 38 deputies have been hired. Monday, they were all recognized at a swearing-in ceremony.

Sheriff William Honsal thanked family and friends for attending the celebration at the Wharfinger Building. He stressed that it is important for all of his officers to be highlighted for the hard work they do.

Nine employees at the Sheriff’s Office were promoted. One of them has worked for the sheriff’s office for 12 years. Now he’s a lieutenant.

“It’s a really good thing to be able to lead, to move up to the next step of leadership in this agency. The new sheriff is all about bringing this agency further. You can’t move forward with one leg in the past, you have to move forward with both feet,” said Greg Musson who recently got promoted to Lieutenant.

“I think it’s important that we get together and recognize the accomplishments that people have obtained both in getting hired and joining this fraternity of peacekeepers and guardians of the public,” said Justin Braud, Humboldt County Undersheriff.
