Crescent City to be featured on NBC Sports for Sister City Relationship

CRESCENT CITY, Ca (KIEM)– Politicians and business leaders from Del Norte County will be heading to Rikuzentakata, Japan on Friday to expand relationships.

The city says they want to introduce people to the idea of importing products from Crescent City to Japan. While overseas, NBC Sports will be following the two sister cities around for a day and a half for an upcoming segment on the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Mayor Blake Inscore says, NBC Sports caught wind of the two sister cities growing a relationship due to a boat from Japan that washed ashore in 2013.

“So that’s a big deal for Crescent City. The idea that potentially 30 million people a night are going to hear about Crescent City and Rikuzentakata. That’s a big component of this trip,” said Crescent City Mayor Blake Inscore.

Later this year Crescent City’s sister city will is also be heading to the North Coast.
