HSU Celebrates Re-Opening of Gist Hall after Building Closes over the Summer

ARCATA (KIEM) – Humboldt State University’s Gist Hall is re-opening, just in time for the start of the fall semester.

Final test results showed that no asbestos fibers were in the air, the material presumed to be disturbed asbestos contained some fibers, and no other fibers were found in loose material in various parts of the building.

Back in May, the building was shut down after possible presence of disturbed asbestos. The material was found during a check of the building’s heating system.

The University will be celebrating gist hall’s re-opening on Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m.
