HOOPA, Ca (KIEM)-Hoopa football is coming off its first winning season in seven years earning a trip to the North Coast Section playoffs.

But despite that success, 2019 brings a new but familiar name to lead the program. Sonny Ryles, who is a Hoopa alum, takes over for William Sims. Ryles was the offensive coordinator for the Warriors last season.  Like Ryles, many players are back including senior quarterback John Smith.

Hoopa will play two of its first three games away from the valley. They open August 23 at Fort Bragg. Then, they’ll come home facing former conference opponent St. Bernard’s.
