Bluff Creek Company and Yurok Tribe Make Appeal before Board of Supervisors on Proposed Cannabis Cultivation Site

EUREKA (KIEM) – Members of the Yurok Tribe and The Bluff Creek Company will be making their case before the Board of Supervisors regarding the proposed cannabis cultivation site.

Back in February, the Planning Commission denied the Bluff Creek Company’s permit for a 9200 square foot cannabis cultivation site.

The Planning Commission said, they denied the proposed project because it was located within the Yurok Tribe’s Ceremonial District.

According to the Yurok Tribe, the County’s Commercial Medical Marijuana Land Use Ordinance prohibits cannabis cultivation within 600 feet of a tribal ceremonial site. The proposed project is located on the east side on Highway 96.

Both sides will be appealing their case to members of the Board. Tomorrow’s meeting starts at 9 a.m. at the Humboldt County Courthouse.
