Trucker’s Christmas Parade is officially back on

Eureka, Ca., (KIEM) A Christmas miracle is coming early this year. As the Annual Trucker’s Christmas Parade is now officially back on schedule.

Monday, First District Supervisor Rex Bohn arrived at Carson Park in Eureka to announce that he and his team will be taking over the holiday parade.

This comes after former organizers KEKA Radio announced earlier this month that they could not present the event this year; due to rising costs, declining community participation, and an increase in liability.

Bohn said he wasn’t sure if he wanted to take on such a huge financial responsibility after hearing the radio stations concerns. However, Bohn shared that what he fears most is losing out on tradition.

“The biggest thing in Humboldt County are traditions and we need to keep our traditions. I reached out to quite a few sponsors and the cool thing is nobody has said no. Everybody is excited, everybody remembers raising their kids with the trucker’s parade, and we’re going to do a trucker’s parade for the kids that are coming up now. We think it’s important.”

Bohn turned in a permit Monday morning to schedule the trucker’s parade for December 14.
