CALIFORNIA (KIEM)– This week is National Teen Driver Safety Week and local law enforcement are encouraging parents to take this time to talk with their teens about the importance of safe driving.

October 20th through the 26th is all about national teen driver safety week and the importance of teenagers understanding what safe driving means.

Some tips officers have to help minimize electronic distraction is place the phone in the glove box, place the phone in do not disturbed, or just lock it up in the trunk to completely limit temptations.

The last thing an officer wants to do is give your teen a ticket, or worse, carry them away in the back or a coroner’s truck.

This is more than a weeklong event, it is a reminder to keep your teen safe and talk with them about the dangers of risky driving.
