Officers Stop Three People with One Pound of Heroin

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – One person is in custody and two others are cited after law enforcement finds them with a pound of heroin.

The Humboldt County Drug Task Force and Humboldt County Sheriff’s stopped Aaron Nelson, 56, along with Kathlene Mellon, 38 and Paul, McElroy, 57, during a traffic stop on Highway 299 around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 5, near Blue Lake.

The drug task force was conducting a multi-week investigation into Nelson for distributing heroin throughout Humboldt County.

During a search of the vehicle, agents found one pound of heroin, scales, packaging material and other drug paraphernalia.

Mellon and McElroy were cited and released while Nelson was booked for narcotics charges and violating his probation.
