Man in Custody after leading Law Enforcement on Pursuit in Del Norte County

DEL NORTE, CA. (KIEM)- One man is in custody after leading law enforcement on a pursuit in Del Norte County.

The Del Norte County Sheriff’s office received a call around 5 pm Monday that someone broke into their residence and stole a vehicle out of the garage.

Officers encountered the vehicle driving near the Smith River area and
pursued 42 year-old Steven Sills.

Sills continued driving for several miles heading up Low Divide Road until
the vehicle became inoperable and fled on foot.

Law enforcement tracked sills for several hours before locating him with
help from Pelican Bay CRT and a National Parks service K-9 unit.
