K9 Unit Assists Sheriff’s in Drug Arrest

MCKINLEYVILLE, Ca. (KIEM) – Two people are in custody for possession of methamphetamine.

A Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on Friday, Nov. 29 around 1 p.m. in McKinleyville.

Deputies pulled stopped 40-year-old Timothy Richard Long and 45-year-old Tammy Joanne Ryan for a vehicle code violation.

During the traffic stop, HCSO deployed a K9 team to conduct a free air sniff for narcotics.

K9 deputy Yahtzee alerted the officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle.

Deputies search the vehicle and located 6.5 ounces of methamphetamine.

Long and Ryan are booked on charges of transportation of a controlled substance for sales.
