McKinleyville, Ca. (KIEM) — More than 600 kids ranging from kindergarten through 3rd grade crowded the Dows Prairie Grange today to do a little bit of Christmas shopping for this year’s Winter Express put on by the McKinleyville Lions Club.

For just one Santa dollar, each child got the chance to take a picture with Santa, pick out 4 different gifts, and have them all wrapped and ready to go under the tree. They also got to enjoy some holiday cookies and candy canes to top things off.

There are over 5,000 gifts for students to choose from. Of course, for the kids, their favorite part was the presents. While many took the opportunity to pick out gifts for themselves, others decided to get gifts for their family.

At the end of the day, the lions club believes the event is all about bringing Christmas cheer to local kids. The lions club hosts this event each year. It continues through Wednesday and Thursday.
