Man Arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance

McKinleyville, Ca. (KIEM) — A man is arrested by sheriff’s deputies after they find him possession of a controlled substance for sale.

On December 20th just before 8 am, a Humboldt County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on the 1800 block of Central Avenue in McKinleyville. The deputy recognized 27-year-old Tonka Jody Gritts and was aware he did not possess a valid driver’s license.

During a search of the vehicle, deputies located ammunition, a loaded firearm, drug paraphernalia, over 22 grams of heroin, and other items consistent with the sale of narcotics.

Gritts was arrested and booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance while armed, possession of a controlled substance for sales, carrying a loaded firearm in public, and driving without a license.
