Department of Health and Human Services Addresses Coronavirus Rumors, No Confirmed Cases

HUMBOLDT COUNTY, Ca. (KIEM) – Recently, there have been rumors circulating of a confirmed case of the novel coronavirus here in Humboldt County, and the Department of Health and Human Services is setting the record straight.

D.H.H.S confirms that there are **no cases** in the county and that the rumors are **false**

Thursday, D.H.H.S held a press conference to address any concerns or answer questions that people may have.

County health officer Dr. Teresa Frankovich, as well as members of the communicable disease unit, were in attendance to reassure everyone that they are actively monitoring the situation, and if there was ever a case- they would immediately notify the public.

They also reminded the public of the symptoms of the novel coronavirus and how closely they resemble typical flu symptoms, and precautions you can take to protect yourself.

Moving forward, D.H.H.S will not announce or confirm individual testing- but they say that residents shouldn’t be concerned by testing. Rather, it means that our local health care system is working properly.

The news conference was live streamed and is available to view on the D.H.H.S Facebook page.
