1,500 Pounds of Trash and Needles Removed from Eureka Homeless Encampment

EUREKA, Ca. (KIEM) – Eureka Police Officers spent two and a half hours removing an illegal camp site.

Two people were staying in the brush near 4th and v streets in eureka. They had been contacted many times and asked to leave the property. On February 20th the camp was given a notice to vacate.

On Wednesday, the Problem Oriented Policing Unit went to the camp and found it vacated, but 1,500 pounds of trash remained.

Two detectives spent 2 and a half hours removing clothing, cardboard, pallets, and over 100 hypodermic syringes from the area.
