5.9 earthquake strikes the North Coast

EUREKA, Ca (KIEM)- A 5.9 magnitude earthquake struck the North Coast at 7:59 pm Sunday. It was centered 70 miles southwest of Eureka.

The quake was felt all over the region including as far as the Oregon border, Redding and Ukiah.

Humboldt County Sheriff William Honsal told Redwood News there are no reports of any damage or injuries.

The National Tsunami Warning Center issued a statement saying a tsunami is not expected.
