Humboldt County, Ca. (KIEM) — Humboldt County Health Officer Dr. Frankovich again emphasizing the importance of the shelter in place order as the number of Covid-19 cases continues to grow.

Now, community spread is at play, which will make tracking down every single person a sick individual has been in contact with difficult.

When asked about the best way to protect yourself, Dr. Frankovich cited CDC suggestions that there may be some value to wearing a mask. It’s not a perfect solution, but it may help.

As far as trying to predict when the peak of the virus will hit the county and how many cases we could see, it’s too early to tell, but the Public Health Department is working on developing their own standardized models in preparation.
